Loving the world one turtle at a time.... 🐢💓

Hey travel fam! We are soooooo excited to share our latest adventures with you. Last month we spent a long weekend in Key West and it was awesome. On our drive down we made a stop at the Turtle Hospital!!

The Turtle Hospital opened in 1986 with four main goals: 1) rehab injured sea turtles and return them to their natural habitat, 2) educate the public through outreach programs, 3) conduct research aiding to sea turtles, and 4) making the beaches and water safe and clean for sea turtles through environmental legislation. Over 1500 sea turtles has been released since the start of the hospital.

Before we started our road trip we booked a time to tour the hospital since it was on the way to Key West. We were really looking forward to learning more about this hospital and their efforts towards helping sea turtles. Once we got there the line was literally out the door with people coming to support the hospital and see the sea turtles for themselves.

The tour was about 45 minutes long and included a walk around the facility as well as a viewing of the current turtle residents at the hospital. The hospital treats a variety of ailments such as shell damage caused by boat collisions, entanglement injuries from fishing gear, and ailments from beach and water pollution digested by the turtles, and much more. These turtles get the best care possible and since this is a not-for-profit hospital all the care for the turtles are funded by generous individuals that seek to help.

There are many ways to give to the hospital. You can visit for yourself and take the tour, buy souvenirs offered by the hospital, make an online donation, or adopt a turtle. Matt and I adopted a turtle! His name is Bubble Butt and he's one of the first residents of the turtle hospital after a boating accident that keeps him from living in the open sea on his own. So many sea turtles are hospitalized every year just like Bubble Butt. It feels really amazing to help in anyway that we can. A little love can go a long way guys. If you're interested in helping you can do so here.
